
PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested three men after dismantling a heroin processing lab operated by a drug syndicate in Nibong Tebal, Penang, on Tuesday.
Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Jay January Siowou said 1.1kg of heroin, as well as heroin base, caffeine, various chemicals and drug processing equipment were seized in the raid on a house in Taman Tambun Permai, Bukit Tambun.
A second raid nearby led to the arrest of a Sri Lankan man with 26kg of caffeine, reported Bernama.
Police also seized two cars and two motorcycles.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the first house was used as a heroin processing lab. The gang is believed to have been actively distributing heroin locally since January. All three suspects have been remanded until Aug 19.
