PETALING JAYA:
Some 1,500 members from various parties have joined Warisan, receiving their membership from party president Shafie Apdal at an event in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, yesterday.

The new members include Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents chairman Winston Liaw.

In a statement, Warisan said the new members comprised some 500 former PKR members, including over 400 from Kota Kinabalu and 100 from Sepanggar.

There were also 420 formerly from Parti Bersatu Sabah, joining Warisan’s divisions in Kota Kinabalu and Sepanggar.

Warisan said more than 160 Umno members in Kota Kinabalu also joined the party, as well as 40 members of chief minister Hajiji Noor’s Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah.

“Warisan leaders described the intake as a reflection of growing support across different constituencies ahead of the coming state election,” the party said in a statement.
