Zara had alleged the incident in a conversation with her mother, Noraidah Lamat, a recording of which has made the rounds on social media, Sinar Harian reported.
The 13-year-old had claimed that her friend was summoned to a classroom in her school after being accused of spreading a rumour that a woman had a crush on one of the senior students.
Zara said her friend had gone to the classroom alone and was confronted by a group of seniors.
“She was almost touched then,” she was heard saying.
She also claimed that her friend cried after the incident.
Noraidah went on to remark that maybe her daughter had also been slandered in the past.
According to Sinar Harian, the recording was among the evidence to prove that bullying was going on in the school.
Noraidah’s lawyer, Hamid Ismail, confirmed the recording.
Before this, two other recordings were made public, one of which suggested that Zara was worried about her safety.
Zara was found unconscious at 4am on July 16 after she allegedly fell from the third floor of her school hostel in Papar.
She died at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu the next day.
Sabah police commissioner Jauteh Dikun had said Bukit Aman was reviewing the case and police had not ruled out the possibility that the Form One student had been bullied.
