KUALA LUMPUR:
An unemployed man pleaded not guilty in the sessions court today to raping his former sister-in-law at her house two years ago.

The man, 31, claimed trial after the charge was read to him before judge Siti Shakirah Mohtarudin.

He was accused of raping the woman, who was 31 at the time, at an apartment in Bukit Jalil at about 3.30am on Jan 22, 2023.

The accused reportedly went missing after the victim lodged a police report.

He was recently arrested and charged in a magistrates’ court with a drug-related offence.

During the investigation, police discovered that he was wanted for a rape case.

Judge Siti Shakirah denied him bail and fixed Aug 26 for case mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Zul Hilmi Latif appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.
