PETALING JAYA:
A Form Three student suffered internal bleeding in his left eye, believed to be from a punch by a schoolmate at a secondary school in Sungai Petani, Kedah, today.

Harian Metro reported that the boy’s father learned of the incident after a teacher contacted him, asking him to pick his son up from school at 12.30pm.

The 52-year-old father found the student with a swollen left eye and suffering a headache and vomiting, and was told his son had been beaten by a schoolmate.

The boy was brought to a hospital, where he was confirmed to be bleeding in his eye.

The father, who said his son had previously complained about being bullied, lodged a report at the Sungai Petani police station.

Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan confirmed the incident and said the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

It was the second case involving the alleged bullying of a student in the district in recent days.

On Saturday, police arrested two 13-year-old students to assist in an investigation into the alleged bullying of a female Form 1 student.

The 13-year-old girl was found in a school toilet, gagged with a handkerchief, and her hands and feet bound with neckties on July 14.

Her mother realised something was amiss when she did not show up at the school gate as usual after classes ended at 6.30pm.
