PETALING JAYA:
Police raided a bungalow in Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan, last month where a “gay party” was being held, resulting in the arrest of 20 men.

State police chief Yusoff Mamat said a special team was formed to surveil the event following a tip-off, Utusan Malaysia reported. The raid itself was conducted at 1am.

The 20 men were detained to give their statements as part of the investigation. Three of them were also arrested under Section 292 of the Penal Code for the possession of obscene material involving gay elements.

“There were initially more than 100 men in their 20s and 30s at the location, but that number reduced after midnight. Further checks on the bungalow led to the discovery of hundreds of condoms and HIV medication,” Yusoff was quoted as saying.

He said preliminary investigations found that no sexual activity had occurred when the bungalow was raided, although it appeared that they were “preparing towards that direction”.

“During questioning, the detainees admitted that they were a group of gays and had held the get-together with free food while publicising the event on social media,” he said.
