She said her ministry had only recently received the report and was currently reviewing its findings.
“I’ve only just received the full report, and we’re still going through the details, especially the root cause of the sinkhole.
“Once that’s done, I’ll present it to the Cabinet. I expect to do so before the end of the year,” she told reporters after an event at SK Seri Bintang Utara in Taman Shamelin Perkasa, here, today.
She was responding to questions about when the full investigation report into the sinkhole incident would be made public.
The sinkhole, which appeared on Jalan Masjid India on Aug 23 last year, swallowed up a 48-year-old Indian tourist, Vijayaletchumy, who was walking down the street outside the Malayan Mansion at the time.
The search operation for her was called off on the ninth day due to safety concerns for both the search team and the surrounding areas after another sinkhole was discovered near the original site.
The natural resources and environmental sustainability ministry later identified human activity and soil erosion as contributing factors in the sinkhole’s formation.
The site was fully reopened to the public in December last year following the completion of repair works.
