PETALING JAYA:
A search and rescue operation was launched after a man was believed to have fallen off the Penang second bridge early this morning.

Penang fire and rescue department assistant operations director John Sagun Francis said the man’s car was found at Km14 of the bridge heading towards the mainland.

He said the department received a distress call from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) at about 4.30am and a team comprising personnel from the Bayan Baru and Bagan Jermal fire stations was deployed to the scene.

The search, coordinated by the MMEA with logistical support including boats from the department, the marine police, and the police, covers four sectors around the location where the victim is believed to have fallen, Kosmo quoted him as saying.
