PETALING JAYA:
Doctors have been unable to determine the cause of death for a mother and child whose bodies were found in an apartment in Bayan Lepas, Penang, on Monday.

Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the autopsies done at Penang Hospital yesterday found no injuries or criminal elements on the two bodies.

“Doctors have not been able to determine the cause of death due to decomposition,” Kosmo reported him as saying.

He also said the mother and daughter were dead for more than a week, based on the autopsies.

The 40-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter were found dead in the apartment on Jalan Bukit Gambir after a neighbour alerted the authorities to a foul smell coming from the unit.

First responders found the bodies already in a state of decomposition.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
