GEORGE TOWN:
July 12 will remain a public holiday in Penang in conjunction with the 84th birthday of governor Ramli Ngah Talib, despite a change in the dates for the state honours and awards ceremony.

State assembly speaker Law Choo Kiang said the investiture ceremony, typically held in conjunction with the governor’s birthday celebration, had been rescheduled to run from July 26 to 30.

He said the change was due to a scheduling conflict with the 269th meeting of the Conference of Rulers.

The annual ceremony involves the conferral of state titles, medals, and honours on individuals in recognition of their service and contributions to the state.
