PETALING JAYA:
A 13-year-old girl was killed after being flung out of a Toyota Vellfire which crashed at KM189.1 south-bound of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) this morning.

The Malaysian Highway Authority’s traffic management centre said four other children were also flung out of the vehicle in the crash which occurred at 7.54am.

One of them was seriously injured while the other three sustained minor injuries.

The vehicle travelling from Ayer Keroh to Jasin is believed to have spun out of control after one of its tyres burst. It then crashed into the road divider before coming to a halt on the emergency lane.

“The accident caused a female passenger to be thrown out onto the north-bound left lane of the highway. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics,” the centre said, according to Sinar Harian.

It added that the crash caused traffic congestion on the PLUS highway, stretching 7.4km northbound and 9.3km southbound.
