Besut police chief Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said a remand application for all the suspects will be made tomorrow to assist in further investigations, Harian Metro reported.
He said the incident came to light after a police report was lodged at 6.48pm yesterday.
“Based on the victim’s statement, he was bullied by being forced to squat with slippers placed on his head for 40 minutes at about 11.30pm on Tuesday,” he was quoted as saying.
“The victim also claimed he was punched in the stomach and slapped in the face by several Form Three students at the hostel.”
Azamuddin said the incident was discovered by a warden on duty, who brought the victim and suspects to the warden’s office.
“The warden also contacted the victim’s guardian to take him to the hospital for treatment,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
He also urged the public not to spread false information that could interfere with the investigation.
Previously, Mara chairman Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had vowed to take a tough stance against bullies, citing the principle of “you touch, you go”.
