Speaking at the opening of Taiwan Expo 2025 yesterday, Wang said Malaysia’s focus on digital infrastructure and innovation complements Taiwan’s strengths in semiconductor manufacturing and systems integration – making the two countries natural partners in the tech space.
He also pointed to Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030, saying Taiwan is ready to contribute through long-term cooperation, not just short-term trade, to help Malaysia achieve its targets.
“We’re not here for one-off deals. We’re here to build lasting partnerships,” Wang told reporters after the expo launch.
“Out of 200 companies participating this year, 32 are showcasing AI applications – that’s 16% of our exhibitors,” he added.
Wang noted that AI has stepped out of research labs to become a part of everyday life, changing how people work, make decisions, and solve problems.
“From smart factories and diagnostics to city planning and education, AI is already making a difference,” he said in his opening remarks during the launch.
Wang highlighted Taiwan’s comprehensive AI ecosystem, particularly its strengths in integrated circuit design, manufacturing, packaging, and testing.
He added that Taiwan has also been competitive in providing AI servers to meet the needs of cloud computing, cloud service providers, and edge computing.
Wang also touched on Taiwan’s cooperation with Western companies in focusing on smart manufacturing and environmental sustainability.
This includes efforts to save energy and decarbonise packaging, with many technologies related to these areas on display at the expo.
Taiwan Expo 2025, which is being held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from June 23 to 25, is in its eighth edition in Malaysia and is the largest to date.
Organised by Taitra and Taiwan’s International Trade Administration, the expo features five key themes: smart manufacturing, health and wellness, smart lifestyles, environmental sustainability, and culture and tourism.
AI remains the central highlight, with companies such as Phison, Touché Solutions, DeepXray and Nuwa Robotics presenting cutting-edge technology in storage, synthetic skin, cancer screening and education.
Sustainability solutions are also on display, from smart water tower management to energy-efficient air conditioning and low-carbon packaging technology.
Innovation in food production has its own spotlight at the Taiwan Select Food Culture Pavilion, offering halal-certified and award-winning products, complete with traditional tea ceremonies.
Visitors can also win round-trip tickets to Taipei, courtesy of China Airlines, Eva Air, and Starlux Airlines. Admission is free.
