The report, filed yesterday by Bah Bi Bah Kerundang, who leads the Senoi Praaq police veterans’ association, concerned a Facebook comment which allegedly used the term “sakai” and belittled Ramli’s intelligence.
He said the comment was insulting to Ramli, Malaysia’s sole Orang Asli MP, as well as the indigenous community, and called for action against the Facebook user.
Ramli, who is also a Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker, became Malaysia’s first Orang Asli MP when he was elected to the Cameron Highlands seat in a by-election in 2019. He won with a majority of 3,238 votes.
He defended the seat for a second term in the 2022 general election, winning with a greater majority of 4,544 votes.
A former police officer who retired from the force with the rank of assistant commissioner, Ramli is also an appointed member of the Umno Supreme Council.
