PETALING JAYA:
The federal police headquarters has announced a slew of promotions for several senior officers, including four state police chiefs, effective July 21.

In a statement, Bukit Aman said Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan would be promoted to director of the federal narcotics criminal investigation department.

Hussein, who has been heading the Selangor police contingent since March 2023, takes over the post from Khaw Kok Chin, who retired in March this year.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa meanwhile will take over as the Bukit Aman commercial crime investigation department director.

He replaces Ramli Yoosuf, who also retired in March. Rusdi has been the city’s police chief since March last year.

Penang police chief Hamzah Ahmad will become the new director of Bukit Aman’s integrity and standard compliance department, while Kedah police chief Fisol Salleh will be deputy director of the federal internal security and public order department (operations).

Hamzah was previously deputy director of the federal internal security and public order department (operations) before his appointment as Penang police chief in May 2024.

He replaces Azri Ahmad, who is set to retire on June 25.

Fisol meanwhile has been the head of the Kedah police since June 2023.
