PETALING JAYA:
The woman assaulted by her employer at an office in Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang in Johor on May 15 had other health problems before the incident, police said today.

Commenting on claims that the woman required surgery after the incident, Seri Alam police chief Sohaimi Ishak said a medical report from the hospital showed that the 34-year-old only suffered scratches and bruises from the assault.

“The woman had an illness and needed surgery unrelated to the incident.

“The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code (for voluntarily causing hurt),” Bernama quoted him as saying to reporters at the Johor police headquarters.

Sohaimi also said that police had completed and submitted the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor.

He was earlier reported as saying that police were investigating a viral video showing a woman being assaulted by her employer in an office.

Sohaimi said police received a report from the woman on the same day at around 5.53pm.
