Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the 24-year-old suspect was caught by members of the public at the scene of the incident.

He said a video of the man in question had been shared widely on social media.

“Police received a report from a 38-year-old local woman about the incident at 12.45am on Tuesday.

“Our investigation found that the incident occurred at 11.15pm on Monday, in which the complainant had allegedly been molested by a male suspect at the parking area of an apartment,” he said.

Rozak said the suspect is being remanded to aid an investigation under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault with intent to outrage modesty.

“The investigation paper will be completed and referred to the deputy public prosecutor as soon as possible.

“The police would like to thank the public for helping them catch the suspect red-handed,” he said.
