PETALING JAYA:
A factory operator died after crashing his motorcycle into an MPV driven by a teacher on Jalan Tanjung Minyak, near Taman Arked Seri Rambai in Melaka last night.

In the 10pm incident, Shafie Sha’ari, 20, died at the scene from severe injuries.

Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit said preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred when the 50-year-old teacher exited a junction to enter Jalan Bukit Pala.

“The teacher reportedly checked for traffic before exiting the junction, but did not see the victim coming on the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin Highway in the direction of Cheng bound for Tanjung Kling.

“The Honda RS-X motorcycle ridden by the victim rammed into the front left part of the MPV, throwing him off and killing him,” Utusan Malaysia reported him as saying, adding the teacher was uninjured.

Patit said the victim was believed to have been on his way home to Tanjung Kling after finishing his shift at a factory in Taman Teknologi Cheng.

The victim’s body has been sent to Melaka Hospital’s forensic unit for an autopsy, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
