JOHOR BAHRU:
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has reminded critics that very few of them, if any, could match the sacrifices made by Rafizi Ramli and his daughter, Nurul Izzah.

He was referring to the heated battle between the two party veterans for the post of PKR deputy president.

“The same people who are criticising either Rafizi or (Nurul) Izzah cannot even match the sacrifices they have made for the party,” he said in his opening speech at the PKR national congress here last night before the election results were announced.

“So, go ahead and criticise, but never forget that when it comes to their strength and calibre as leaders, very few can compare. So, if you have crossed the line (in your criticism), just apologise.”

Anwar then reminded all members to speak with caution, telling them that PKR’s agenda is bigger than personal struggles.

In yesterday’s election for the central leadership posts, Nurul Izzah was elected as the new PKR deputy president after she defeated the incumbent Rafizi.

According to the party election committee, Nurul Izzah garnered a total of 9,803 votes, or 71.7%, while Rafizi obtained 3,866 votes (28.3%).

Rafizi previously said that he would resign as economy minister if he lost the post to Nurul Izzah.
