She reminded members that PKR’s success was built on collective sacrifices and struggles – and warned against internal sabotage to fulfil personal agendas.
“We must bring good values into our politics. We can have different views and we can agree to disagree.
“But if we want to push our own agendas at the expense of others, then we are drilling holes in our own ship – and it will sink,” she said while officiating the PKR Youth and Wanita congress tonight.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Fuziah clarified that her remarks were meant as general advice and not directed at any individual.
“If we’re in an organisation, we need to build it together. If someone pokes a hole in the ship, everyone will sink.
“We are all responsible for protecting the wellbeing of this organisation and to support Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for a second term as prime minister,” she said.
When pressed to clarify if her comments were in reference to current developments or individuals in the party, Fuziah firmly denied any such suggestion.
“It’s just an advice. This is just a message to take good care of the organisation,” she said.
Fuziah’s advice echoes similar sentiments recently expressed by PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, who urged all party members to close ranks once the party polls conclude.
She warned that infighting in the party may lead to its demise within five to 10 years and also urged all leaders to prepare the party in the coming 24 months for the next general election.
