Segamat police chief Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said a restaurant worker interviewed by the police had stated that the restaurant had thrown away the chair on which the dog had been placed.

“Further investigations are being held with the Segamat Municipal Council,” he said in a statement.

A video of the man and his dog at the eatery in Segamat Baru had gone viral earlier this week, with netizens expressing dismay. Dogs are seen as ritually unclean by most Muslims.
