Body of newborn boy found floating in Sungai Klang

Police have started an investigation after the body of a newborn baby boy was found in the Klang river near Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur, at about 2pm today.

Brickfields police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said they were informed about the sighting of an object resembling a baby in Sungai Klang near a restaurant in Jalan Klang Lama.

He said a witness saw what appeared to be a body caught on a rock in the river nearby. “A team from the Seputeh fire station arrived at the scene and successfully retrieved the body,’ he said in a statement. The umbilical cord was still attached to the body.

Ku Mashariman said a post-mortem examination would be held tomorrow.
