8 in running for PKR vice-presidency so far

Four spots are up for grabs, with challengers including R Ramanan, Hee Loy Sian, Sim Tze Tzin, Abun Sui Anyit, R Yuneswaran and Dr N Sathia Prakash.

Eight candidates have submitted their nominations in the race for the four PKR vice-president’s posts  so far, including incumbents Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Chang Lih Kang.

The remaining two incumbents have yet to submit their nominations, based on checks on PKR’s central leadership election platform.

The other six  in the running include deputy minister and Sungai Buloh MP R Ramanan, former Selangor executive councillor Hee Loy Sian, Segamat MP R Yuneswaran and Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin.

Also in contention are a senator, Abun Sui Anyit, and Dr N Sathia Prakash, the PKR deputy secretary-general.

Besides Nik Nazmi and Chang, the other two vice-presidents who were elected during the 2022 party polls were Aminuddin Harun and Amirudin Shari, the menteris besar of Negeri Sembilan and Selangor, respectively.

Former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, deputy national unity minister K Saraswathy and former Putatan MP Awang Husaini Sahari were later appointed as vice-presidents.

The nominations for PKR’s central leadership elections opened today and close at 11.59pm tomorrow.
