PETALING JAYA:
The 53-year-old woman and her 25-year-old nephew, whose bodies were found in the living room of her house in Semenyih, Selangor, on Friday night, are believed to have been dead for over a week.

Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said this conclusion is based on their autopsies yesterday.

“We cannot determine (the time of death) exactly, but the maggots found on the bodies were sent to the chemistry department for analysis.

“The victims have likely been dead for over seven days,” Kosmo reported him as saying.

Naazron said police have recorded statements from five witnesses so far, including the victims’ neighbours and relatives.

“A few more witnesses have been called and will give their statements tomorrow,” he said, adding that no arrests have been made so far and the bodies have not been handed over to their families yet.

Yesterday, Naazron said the bodies were discovered after the woman’s brother reported a stench from the house.

He said a post-mortem examination revealed that they had been suffocated.

He said police entered the house after a report was lodged by the brother at 8.43pm. The two bodies were found lying on the floor.

“A check of the house found no signs of ransacking. The house was locked from the inside. The motive behind the incident is still under investigation,” he said.
