Berita Harian reported that the 16-year-old, whose identity has been withheld, entered his plea to the charge before magistrate R Salini.

According to the charge sheet, the teen was found to be in possession of 14 pornographic images on his mobile phone in Taman Indahpura at 5.28pm on April 8.

He was charged under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

However, the teen pleaded not guilty to a second charge of producing explicit content involving a 17-year-old girl by editing her images into pornographic material at 12.40pm on April 9.

The second charge was framed under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which deals with the production of child pornography.

If convicted, the teen may be issued a warning, a good behaviour bond, or a fine. The court could also order for him to be placed at an approved school or Henry Gurney School.

Deputy public prosecutor S Thiviya appeared for the prosecution while the teen was represented by lawyer TC Lim.

Bail was set at RM4,000 with one surety for each charge. The court fixed June 23 for mention.
