Magistrate Najwa Che Mat imposed a fine of RM1,700 for each charge or two months’ imprisonment if the accused, Chong Shen Chong, 69, failed to pay the fines, Sinar Harian reported.
The charges were framed under Section 289 of the Penal Code which is punishable by up to six months in prison, a maximum RM2,000 fine, or both, if convicted.
Deputy public prosecutor Amirul Halimi Salleh led the prosecution, while Chong was represented by lawyer Alvin Kua.
Kua had urged the court not to impose a jail term as Chong is suffering from depression and heart issues that require ongoing medical treatment.
He also said his client’s guilty plea had saved the court’s time and that the accused promised not to repeat the offence, with the two Rottweilers having since been euthanised by the veterinary services department.
Chong, who is also a businessman, paid the fines.
The dogs had reportedly escaped from their cage before attacking and injuring the victims at around 7am on April 1.
