GEORGE TOWN:
Police have detained a senior citizen for allegedly raping his mentally disabled relative at Bayan Lepas over the weekend.

Barat Daya police chief Sazalee Adam said the 64-year-old unemployed man admitted to having sex with the 27-year-old woman.

“The victim was brought to the Penang Hospital for a medical examination. The forensics team found semen samples and two strands of hair on the bed,” he said.

Sazelee said the case is being probed for rape under the Penal Code.

He said the victim’s mother lodged a police report last Sunday after realising her daughter was not at home.

Sazalee explained that the victim, who is illiterate, was left alone at home while her family members went to work.

The mother went to search for her daughter, including at her cousin’s home some 2km away.

Upon arriving at the man’s home, she found him in just his towel, while her daughter was naked in the toilet, Sazalee said.

The man told the mother that her daughter had come to his house on her own.

“We suspect that the man has had multiple sexual encounters with the victim,” said Sazalee, adding that the victim was unable to process what had happened as she was mentally challenged.
