In a Facebook post today, Chua Wei Kiat, who is PKR deputy information chief and is running for the post of Selayang PKR chief, said the MIC leader’s membership in PKR was registered on Oct 24 last year.
He said this was a “calculated move” to infiltrate PKR with the purpose of influencing the Selayang division-level party polls.
“Interference like this cannot be taken lightly as it involves external parties attempting to take advantage of our party’s internal system,” said Chua, who is also Rawang assemblyman.
“Even more worryingly, we do not know how many MIC members have infiltrated PKR via the same method.
“This gives rise to the serious concern that there is a large and organised operation to threaten the party’s stability from the inside,” he said.
Chua said an application to be a PKR member is not easy.
“It involves e-KYC verification, including uploading a picture of your identity card and live facial verification.
“It is clear this registration was done with the knowledge and permission of the party involved.”
He claimed this was not an isolated case, but did not mention other examples.
Chua said he had lodged a police report over the matter and would lodge official complaints with the central leaderships of PKR and MIC.
