Chinese national Deng Sheng said the “false news” had caused him many problems, impacting his reputation, business, and personal life.
“I want to make it clear that I was treated fairly by the JPJ officers, but the media and others who spread false information have caused me stress and damage.
“Because of this, I reserve all of my legal rights to take action against those who have harmed my name and reputation,” he said in a statement.
He also said that many had contacted him and were asking him about the incident “non-stop”.
“Some media also wrongly called me a social media influencer, which I am not,” Deng added.
Yesterday, Bernama reported that JPJ had seized a Lamborghini Aventador driven by a 28-year-old content creator who was found to be driving without a licence during a Hari Raya Aidilfitri integrated operation in Jalan Bangsar on Tuesday night.
The man was reportedly driving to his home in Damansara Heights with his girlfriend after attending the launch of a fast-food restaurant in Kepong.
However, JPJ later clarified that it had not seized the luxury car, only issued a compound to the driver.
Deng today said that he had a valid international driving permit but that he was unable to produce the document on the spot.
“I explained this to the JPJ officers, and they were friendly and professional at all times. I was given a summons for not carrying my permit, and after that, I was allowed to leave. I was never arrested, and my car was not taken away.
“Please stop spreading false news. Let’s respect the truth,” he said.
