PETALING JAYA:
Express Rail Link (ERL) Sdn Bhd has confirmed major disruptions to its KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit train services following a series of vandalism acts involving cable theft.

ERL said that issues with the train signalling system at the Bandar Tasik Selatan station yesterday had also disrupted services.

“Our team is working around the clock to restore full service.

“We understand the impact these disruptions have had on our passengers, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or delays caused,” it said in a statement.

ERL said the first cable cut incident took place yesterday at Km48.5 between the Salak Tinggi station and KLIA Terminal 1 at around 6.20am.

“Combined service for KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit was activated at 6.58am from KLIA Terminal 2 and 7am from KL Sentral. Train shuttle service was also provided from the Salak Tinggi station to KL Sentral at 7.40am to address the morning rush-hour crowd,” it said.

It said that normal train services resumed at 10am yesterday from KL Sentral and 9.48am from KLIA Terminal 2.

The second cable cut took place at Km43.1 at 5.52pm yesterday, between the Putrajaya & Cyberjaya and Salak Tinggi stations, resulting in delays of between seven and 10 minutes in arrival time.

“Another incident involving disruptions to the signalling system at the Bandar Tasik Selatan station resulted in all train services being suspended at 9.57pm,” ERL said.

It said train shuttle services between the Putrajaya & Cyberjaya station and KLIA Terminal 2 started at 10.20pm at a frequency of 20 minutes, with passengers heading to KL Sentral from Putrajaya & Cyberjaya advised to seek alternative transport.

A third cable cut occurred at 4.47am today, at Km47.2 between the Salak Tinggi station and KLIA Terminal 1.

“A fourth cable cut occurred at Km40.6 at around 5.20am, between the Salak Tinggi station and Putrajaya & Cyberjaya.

“Shuttle train services commenced at 6am from the Salak Tinggi station to KLIA Terminal 1 and 2 and the Putrajaya & Cyberjaya station to KL Sentral, operating every 20 minutes,” it said.

ERL said that passengers who had been affected by the disruptions could request a refund by emailing [email protected].
