Asyraf said that seven students were found to have been involved in the viral incident. He said two had done the physical bullying while the other five were accomplices.
“It is recommended that all of them be expelled from MRSM,” he said in a Facebook post.
Commenting on his post, he said he had always emphasised the principle of “you touch, you go” for bullies.
“I’m sorry, but I do not agree that they should be given a second chance.
“There will be no compromise and no place for bullies or any form of bullying culture at any Mara institution, including MRSM,” he added.
He also said there was no need for the students involved to meet him for an appeal as his office would not entertain them.
“It doesn’t matter whose children they are – whether the children of a Tan Sri, a Datuk, or anyone influential. If they are involved in bullying, firm and decisive action will be taken,” he said.
Yesterday, Asyraf said that an internal investigation had been launched into the incident in the video, and that the school in question had been identified.
He had called for the students involved to be suspended during the course of the investigation, and reiterated his zero-tolerance stance on bullying, reminding the public of the strict policy under his leadership.
The video, which was over a minute long, showed a group of male students pinning another student down on a bed and whipping him with a belt.
Seberang Perai deputy police chief Norazmi Abd Ghapar was reported as saying that the incident took place in mid-2024, with the students claiming it was intended as a joke.
He said the police had identified seven of the students, including the victim.
Norazmi said the students involved were in Form 3, and that they would have their statements recorded under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
