Singaporean, Indian national drown near Mersing

A Singaporean man and an Indian national were found drowned after they went swimming at Pulau Mawar, near here, today.

Endau fire and rescue station chief Alias Hussin said they received a call regarding the incident at 2.37pm.

Seven personnel, along with a light fire rescue tender vehicle and a pickup truck, were dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, it was found that three men were involved in the incident. The body of the Singaporean man (identified as Yogaraj Veeran, 37) was found floating and brought to shore by members of the public.

“Another man, a Malaysian, managed to save himself,” he said in a statement.

The Indian national, identified as Narayanan Ravi, 45, was found 300m from Pulau Mawar, before the rescue operation concluded at 6.20pm.
