PETALING JAYA:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has advised Za’imuddin Azlan, who was injured in an altercation with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers, to be patient and allow the authorities to investigate the incident.

Anwar’s political secretary Azman Abidin conveyed the sympathies of the prime minister and his wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, to the balloon vendor at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital today, Bernama reported.

A video of the incident at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman on Friday night showed DBKL officers holding Za’imuddin down on the ground after a brief struggle.

According to DBKL, the officers claimed they had issued the vendor three warnings for operating without a licence.

“When the third warning was issued, the balloon vendor became aggressive and pushed an enforcement officer who was just carrying out his duty,” it said.

However, Za’imuddin later denied he was given three warnings before the altercation with the officers.

Azman, who is also the federal territories PKR chief, said he would guide Za’imuddin in obtaining a hawker’s licence after his recovery from the injuries sustained in the incident.

“We have promised to help him obtain a hawker’s licence,” he said.

He also urged hawkers and enforcement officers to operate or carry out their duties by the law.
