JOHOR BAHRU:
Floodwaters have receded in Batu Pahat, where the last relief centre was closed at 6pm today.

State disaster management committee chairman Azmi Rohani said 140 victims from 44 families were allowed to return home to Kampung Baharu, Batu Pahat, after the floodwaters receded and their residences were deemed safe.

“However, the meteorological department has issued a thunderstorm warning for Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru,” he said in a statement.

The water level of Sungai Senggarang had exceeded the warning level, recording a reading of 3.24m.

The floods in six districts since March 19 have displaced more than 13,000 people in Johor Bahru, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, Pontian, Kluang, and Batu Pahat.
