PETALING JAYA:
The alleged mastermind behind the murder of a high-profile businessman in the Philippines in 2018 has been arrested in Malaysia.

The Philippine police’s regional office said the suspect linked to Dominic Sytin’s murder was nabbed in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, with the aid of their Malaysian counterparts, GMA News Online reported.

It said that Dominic’s brother, Alan Dennis Lim Sytin, was arrested in an operation at the Cobra Rugby Club at Lorong Utara, Petaling Jaya, on March 22.

“Alan, who had a 10 million Philippine peso (RM772,200) bounty on his head, was the alleged mastermind behind the 2018 murder of his brother, Dominic, the president and founder of United Auctioneers Inc.

“This operation highlights the power of international cooperation in bringing fugitives to justice. It sends a strong message that no one can escape accountability, no matter where they flee,” the Philippine police said.

It is unclear how long Alan had been in Malaysia before his arrest.

On Nov 28, 2018, it was reported that Dominic was shot by Edgardo Luib in front of a hotel in Subic Bay Freeport. After his arrest and conviction for the murder, Luib claimed that Alan was the mastermind behind the killing.

Alan will be repatriated to the Philippines, where he will be charged.

The Philippine police said another alleged accomplice in the murder, Edrian Rementilla, was arrested in Iligan City on March 22.
