Three teenagers in Jeli, Kelantan, suffered burns and injuries after trying to make their own firecrackers, with one of them even losing a finger.

Jeli police chief Kamarulzaman Harun said the incident occurred at 4.40pm today at the dormitory of a religious school.

The students are believed to have attempted to make their own firecrackers by inserting sulphur into a bottle filled with gravel.

“Because of their actions, the victims suffered injuries and burns on several parts of their body. One of the victims, 16, lost a finger on his left hand. All three of them are being treated in Jeli Hospital,” he said, according to Harian Metro.
