PETALING JAYA:
Police are tracking down a man, believed to be involved in telecommunications cable theft, following a car chase early this morning.

Sentul police chief Sukarno Zahari said a preliminary investigation found that a chase occurred at about 3.45am between an MPV and the man’s vehicle from Taman Rainbow, Sentul, to Jalan Kuching.

After the MPV cornered the car, and with a police car approaching, the man abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.

“An inspection of the vehicle uncovered tools used for cable theft. Efforts to track down the man are ongoing,” Sukarno said in a statement.

He said a check on the vehicle revealed that it was registered under a car rental company.

Earlier, a netizen shared a 26-second video on X showing a police car, with its siren blaring, arriving at the scene, with the man being chased by another individual along the roadside.

Two police officers are also seen joining in the chase.
