2 elderly passengers die after car skids, crashes into tree

The two, aged 55 and 73, were said to be students of the driver, a religious school teacher.

KUANTAN:
Two elderly car passengers were killed and the driver injured after their car crashed into a tree while going round a bend in Bandar Pusat Jengka, near Temerloh, earlier today.

Maran police chief Wong Kim Wai said rear passenger Rahinuddin Ibrahim, 55, died at the scene, while front passenger Abd Aziz Othman, 73, died in Temerloh Hospital.

Wong said the driver, Jamaluddin Adam, 74, suffered chest pains and is being treated at Jengka Hospital.

Jamaluddin is a religious school teacher from Felda Jengka 21, while the two passengers were studying at the madrasah (Pondok Haji Bakri in Chenor).

“Initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred at about 1.20pm while the vehicle was travelling towards Felda Jengka 21. The vehicle skidded into a slope on the right side, and collided with a tree,” he said in a statement.
