Pharmacist remanded for allegedly insulting Prophet on FB

PETALING JAYA:
A 29-year-old pharmacist has been remanded by police for two days to assist in an investigation into claims he had insulted the Prophet Muhammad.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said a police report was lodged by a complainant on March 18, claiming he had read the comment left by the suspect on Facebook.

He said the comment had been made by a Facebook account named “Khor Soon Keat”, Harian Metro reported.

“This remark was purportedly supported by another Facebook user known as ‘Chelvi Kolan’. Both comments were made on a posting by a user known as ‘Zam Kai’,” Razarudin said.

He added that the probe is being held under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony on grounds of religion and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities.
