The 56-year-old cleaner pleaded guilty after he was charged in the Muar sessions court with possession of child pornography, specifically 18 video recordings and pictures of his stepdaughter taking a shower.
Before meting out the sentence, judge Nariman Badruddin reprimanded the man, telling him that his actions were “really horrible”.
“The court hopes that you are truly repentant. Do not repeat this offence,” she told him.
He was charged with committing the offence between Sept 17 to Dec 21 last year.
The charge of possession of child pornography was framed under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, which provides for up to five years in prison, a maximum RM10,000 fine, or both, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Diyana Najihah Fauzi prosecuted while the man, who paid the fine, was not represented.
