Foreign tourist drowns in Langkawi lake

The 55-year-old is believed to have been swimming in the lake without a life jacket.

PETALING JAYA:
A 55-year-old foreigner drowned in Tasik Dayang Bunting in Langkawi, Kedah, today, after swimming in the lake without a life jacket.

The Langkawi fire and rescue department were alerted to the incident at about 12.05pm after the tourist disappeared while swimming in the lake, Utusan Malaysia reported.

Search and rescue personnel carried out a surface search around the victim’s last known location before recovering the body of the deceased at 2.29pm.

Medical officers confirmed the man’s death at the scene. The body has been handed over to the police.
