Zaliha said the nomination process for the election of committee members, as well as women and youth wing leaders at the division level – which closed on March 16 – saw an “extraordinary” level of participation.
“This achievement reflects the strong commitment by our members for a mature and inclusive democratic process within the party,” she said in a statement.
Zaliha said the next phase, which gives members the right to file an objection against nominated candidates, starts today and ends on Thursday (March 20).
“Candidates facing any objection can then submit their appeal on March 24 and 25, thus allowing for a fair and transparent review process.
“Those who wish to withdraw from the contest have until March 20 to do so,” she added.
The final list of candidates contesting division-level leadership positions will be announced on March 28.
“All candidates and their supporters must adhere to the election rules to ensure a smooth, transparent and fair process,” she said.
