KUALA LUMPUR:
Businessman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak has withdrawn his High Court application for an injunction against former Umno information chief Isham Jalil in his defamation suit.

Farhash’s lawyer, Aswath Ramakrishnan, said they decided to withdraw the application as there was no urgency in obtaining it.

He added that the injunction was intended to prevent Isham from commenting on the case until the lawsuit was resolved.

“The trial is fixed from Sept 1 to 4, 2026,” Aswath told reporters after case management today.

Farhash filed the defamation suit last year after Isham refused to apologise for questioning his substantial shareholding in technology services provider HeiTech Padu Bhd.

Isham, in a TikTok post, had asked whether Farhash had inside information that HeiTech Padu would be shortlisted for a government contract prior to buying the firm’s shares, and whether he influenced the government’s decision to award the contract to the company. He had also questioned Farhash’s ties with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Farhash, who ceased to be a substantial shareholder of HeiTech Padu in April 2024, claimed that Isham’s social media post was defamatory.

Farhash, who was Anwar’s political secretary, is seeking damages from Isham, and the removal of the video. Isham, however, claims that the video was removed by TikTok.

Isham was represented by lawyer Chetan Jetwani.
