Petronas said this was to ensure that the rights and interests of all parties, including the end-customers and investors, were addressed accordingly.
“Utmost consideration will always be given to ensuring certainty in the investment climate,” it said in a statement in reply to Bernama’s query on reports stating otherwise regarding cooperation between the two companies.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim recently said Putrajaya will meet Sarawak to detail the scope of cooperation between Petros and Petronas.
He said the discussion was to explore the cooperation to be undertaken by them involving new projects in any field.
Last month, Anwar also said Petronas would uphold all its domestic and international contractual obligations while Petros would act as Sarawak’s gas aggregator under a 2016 state ordinance on gas distribution beginning March 1.
Law and institutional reform minister Azalina Othman Said has confirmed Petros’s role as the state’s gas distributor, excluding liquefied natural gas.
