PETALING JAYA:
Perak police are in the midst of completing its investigation into a minimarket manager, who has since been sacked, for pouring hot water on a stray dog.

Ipoh police chief Sajidan Abdul Sukor said a report was lodged at about 12.30am on Friday. The case will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor when investigations are completed.

“Initial investigations revealed that the person poured a cup of hot water onto a stray dog that was roaming outside a premises,” he said, Bernama reported. “The dog was rescued and taken to a nearby veterinary clinic for treatment.”

Earlier today the KK Super Mart chain said the manager at the minimarket in Jalan Besar, Menglembu, had been fired after a public outcry following a video clip showing hot water being poured on the dog.

Animal activist Siti Fauziah Jabbar subsequently lodged a police report and took the dog to a veterinary clinic in Subang, Selangor, for treatment.

KK Super Mart said it had offered to cover the full cost of the animal’s treatment.
