The PAS MP said the latest development has only seen deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof announcing plans to form a committee on the issue.
“This will just drag the matter further,” he said when debating the Employees Provident Fund (Amendment) Bill 2025 in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Fadhli urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s government to reconsider its stance, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
“When government MPs return to their constituencies, they can distribute aid to the people. We can’t do that.
“I hope that in this month of Ramadan, the prime minister and the government will open their hearts and grant allocations to opposition MPs.
“I’m sure the government is stable enough with a two-thirds majority, so there’s no need to worry,” he said.
Fadhli also said discussions on the matter have not yielded results, referencing Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s previous attempts to negotiate for allocations.
“If we want to talk about negotiations, he has tried everything, but nothing has happened. But Muar is creative … he has a ‘package’ to help the people,” he said in jest.
“If I were to be a product model, I don’t think the product would sell.”
Previously, PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin dismissed the need for a committee to discuss allocations for opposition MPs.
“We have dignity and principles. The allocations are for the people, not for personal use.
“When I was the prime minister, I gave everyone an allocation.
“The question now is whether they are sincere or not. If they don’t want to give it, fine. It has been more than two years. It’s up to the prime minister,” he said.
