PETALING JAYA: A housewife was charged in the Kajang magistrates’ court today with killing her husband of 37 years at an apartment unit last week.
No plea was recorded from Hew Pit Lee, 59, as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court, Bernama reported.
Hew only looked at the floor while the charge was being read and did not respond when asked several questions in Mandarin by the court interpreter.
She was charged with murdering Wong Chee Min, 61, at the apartment unit in Kajang on Feb 16.
The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death penalty, or 30 to 40 years’ imprisonment and a minimum of 12 strokes, upon conviction.
Magistrate Fatin Dayana Jalil fixed April 17 for case mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Norfarhanim Abdul Halim prosecuted while the accused did not have a lawyer.
