Kota Bharu district police chief Rosdi Daud said in the incident, the 17-year-old victim was trying to overtake a vehicle but collided with a car coming from the opposite direction, Bernama reported.

“The victim died at the scene and his body was taken to Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital’s forensic unit for a post-mortem.

“The driver of the car, who is in his 30s, suffered some injury to his hand and was taken to Raja Perempuan Zainab Hospital for treatment,” he was quoted as saying.

Rosdi added that an investigation had been opened under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving leading to death.
