PETALING JAYA: Two enforcement personnel in Penang have been remanded for five days on suspicion of soliciting and accepting a RM3,000 bribe to close an investigation into a drug offence.
A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission source said both suspects are in their 30s, Bernama reported.
“A preliminary investigation found that both suspects had colluded in committing the act in January and February. They are believed to have asked for a RM3,000 bribe and received RM1,800 in advance last month,” said the source.
The first suspect, nabbed on Thursday, is under remand until Feb 25. The second suspect was arrested today and has been remanded until Feb 26.
Penang MACC director Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the arrests.
