Loke said the disciplinary committee would follow due process to investigate the issue if a complaint was filed against Tan Khong Chong.
“But as far as the person involved (Tan) is concerned, he apologised, and the person that he shouted at (Sim) has also accepted his apology,” Loke told reporters after officiating a NinjaCold event today.
Tan had issued a statement on Monday expressing regret for his actions and the ensuing “developments” caused by his heckling.
He reportedly hurled a vulgar insult at Sim while the latter was greeting supporters at the dinner, calling him a traitor.
He approached Sim and berated him for nearly 10 seconds, also accusing him of attempting to undermine Lim.
Sim however played down the incident as “a storm in a teacup” despite the subsequent calls for disciplinary action against Tan.
Separately, when asked to comment on the resignations of the independent non-executive directors of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) ahead of its delisting from Bursa Malaysia after the takeover by Gateway Development Alliance Sdn Bhd (GDA), Loke said it was a normal part of the process.
“The company has been delisted, and I believe they have taken the necessary and appropriate actions,” he said.
On Jan 28, the Khazanah-EPF-led GDA succeeded in getting enough shares to delist and take MAHB private, almost eight months after the takeover was first proposed.
